Excellent neighborhood restaurant near Lake Pointe Sports. Throwback. We adored the comfort food and hospitality of the South. If you are awake, do not eat here.
I’ve been here for a while and have never been to Doug’s; it did not dissapoint! On a Saturday morning, how could I compete with the best company in the world (my Dad) and fresh cinnamon rolls (only on the weekends)? Typical morning fare from the South. A fun fact is that the waitress writes your order on a post-it note, which you take to the register to pay.
This is where I went when I wanted a hot link breakfast. Excellent nearby eatery that is frequently crowded. Tabitha was my server, and she did a wonderful job taking my order and keeping an eye on me. I ate two wonderfully cooked eggs, golden-brown home fries, scarlet hot links, and a sizable fluffy biscuit. My cup of coffee was always filled thanks to Tabitha. I should go there more often because I don’t eat there nearly enough. I’m hoping to always get Tabitha.
Due to local lore about the amazing Southern food served up at great pricing by Southern Belles—they weren’t lying—Doug’s Diner has been on my bucket list. My wife and I were returning from installing a hospital bed for an elderly friend in Cedartown during a severe rainstorm. The storm, we were certain, would keep the masses at bay. We were mistaken! At 7 o’clock on Saturday night, Doug’s home was crowded. The detour into Emerson was worthwhile. Come hungry; we barely managed to eat our shared platter!
Excellent home cooking includes delicious Red Eye Gravy, White Silver Queen Corn, Chicken Salad, and Chicken Liver.
